Vascular Services

Advanced endovascular techniques are utilized at Galion Hospital for diagnostic purposes. We offer minimally invasive surgical options designed to access many regions of the body through major blood vessels. This allows for shorter recovery times and less scarring and pain. Endovascular services include diagnostic angiograms of the carotid, renal, and leg arteries, interventional procedures and minimally invasive vein repair, including resolution of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Vascular & Thoracic Procedures

Endovascular therapy is changing the way heart attacks, stroke and various other medical conditions are being treated. Many problems that once required invasive surgery can now be fixed using minimally invasive procedures, with catheters instead of scalpels. Because endovascular procedures are less invasive, patients spend less time in the hospital, less time recovering and can get back
to their daily routine sooner.

Thoracic Surgery

Offers skilled care for patients with both benign and cancerous chest and lung conditions. Treatment includes the use of leading-edge techniques, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and other minimally invasive surgical techniques, to relieve symptoms in patients who have lung and esophageal cancer.

Vascular Laboratory

Cardiovascular ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic tool used to diagnose and detect heart and blood vessel problems. Testing is performed by registered cardiac and vascular sonographers. Tests performed in this department include echocardiograms, carotid artery and venous ultrasound, ultrasound of the aorta, and testing for peripheral artery disease.

Deep Vein Thrombosis

A catheter procedure that removes blood clots in minutes, preventing the clot from traveling to the lungs and becoming a deadly pulmonary embolism. This breakthrough technology for DVTs is a procedure that can help restore the patient’s leg to full health and can be life saving.

Carotid Stent

A minimally invasive procedure which opens up a blocked artery and keeps a patient from having to undergo open surgery. A carotid stent is a slender, metal-mesh tube which expands inside the carotid artery in the neck to increase blood flow in blocked areas. The carotid artery supplies blood to the brain. Blockage of blood flow to the brain can cause stroke, brain damage, or death.
