Avita Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Bucyrus Orthopedic Center
BUCYRUS/GALION/ONTARIO – Avita Health System held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new orthopedic clinic in Bucyrus, Ohio on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The new 15,000 square foot facility is slated to open in late summer of 2026.
Kim Winkle, Vice President of Avita Health System, welcomed the crowd at the new clinic site at 307 Hill Street, Bucyrus. “Contractors have been very busy getting the site ready for the new building,” said Winkle. “We have included some of the most advanced technology and rehabilitation tools available for therapy in our center, including a new on-site x-ray, an aquatic therapy pool, and a new Solo Step System which enhances rehabilitation capabilities for those learning to walk with new prosthetics giving them the opportunity to do so safely and effectively.”
Jerry Morasko, President and CEO of Avita Health System, thanked city administrators and the community for their support. Morasko also introduced Dr. John Diehl, orthopedic and sports medicine physician, and Dr. Robert Ogg, orthopedic surgeon, who will be practicing in the new facility.
Bucyrus Mayor, Bruce Truka, addressed the crowd and proclaimed September 23, 2025, as Avita Bucyrus Orthopedic Center Groundbreaking Day in Bucyrus.
Adena Corporation in Mansfield is the designer/builder and NAC Architecture from Columbus, Ohio is the architect group working on the project. Multiple representatives from both companies were in the crowd to support the groundbreaking. Lead donors of the project taking part in the groundbreaking were Dr. Joe (Avita Board Member) and Sue (Bucyrus Hospital Auxiliary Member) Shadeed; Randy McDonald, Chair of the Avita Health Foundation Board; and Chris Hiner, President of Park National Bank. Also participating was Linda Smith, Avita Board Chair; Andrew von Lohr, NAC Architecture; Randy Payne, Adena Corporation; Bruce Truka, Bucyrus Mayor; and Jerry Morasko, President and CEO of Avita Health System.
