Avita’s Lights & Sirens Conference
We would like to thank all who participated in this year’s Light’s & Sirens Conference. This training is open to all healthcare workers but geared toward EMS. We had speakers from Avita Health System, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and MedFlight. There were 209 hours of continuing education issued to individuals representing 19 different area agencies.
Dr. Michael Davis, the medical director of Avita’s cath lab services, taught classes on EMS and cardiac care including recognizing and managing STEMIs (emergent heart attack), the role of a cardiac cath lab, and the importance of teamwork between the EMS system and the hospital for rapid treatment of these serious conditions. Dr. Davis also presented a class on EMS and stroke care. Speakers from OSU and MedFlight presented on geriatric, stroke, and trauma topics and our speakers from Nationwide Children’s Hospital presented on pediatric medical emergencies and trauma.
We enjoy working with all of these organizations and our local first responders to provide training opportunities within our community!
