Liver Elastography Now Offered at Avita Health System
ONTARIO, OH – Avita Health System is now offering shear wave liver elastography at Ontario Hospital. This newly-acquired diagnostic imaging test is used to detect and monitor chronic liver diseases, such as hepatic fibrosis, cirrhosis, hepatitis B and C, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
“We are dedicated to bringing innovative, forward-thinking technology to our community to elevate the standard of patient care,” explained Jerry Morasko, President/CEO of Avita Health System. “With advanced diagnostic tools, we can provide more accurate diagnoses and management, making liver elastography another investment that will help provide comprehensive evaluations of liver health.”
Avita purchased the Canon Aplio i-series Prism Edition, which uses ultrasound to measure liver elasticity and stiffness. This technology is designed to boost diagnostic confidence with a wide-range of applications, including proprietary AI filtering to deliver clearer images with enhanced tissue detail, as well as an autotune feature to streamline workflow and provide consistent, more accurate results.
Liver elastography is often a preferred alternative to liver biopsy. It’s non-invasive, painless, and has no risk of complication. Testing time is less than 30 minutes. In addition to diagnosing liver diseases, liver elastography is commonly used as a repeatable method to monitor disease progression and evaluate if medical treatments are working effectively. Testing is available Mon-Fri at Avita Ontario Hospital with a medical provider’s order. To request an appointment, call central scheduling at 419-462-3310.
