Avita Health System Expands Education & Training Center

GALION, OH – Avita Health System has relocated its Education Department to a new, expanded Education & Training Center at 135 S. Market Street in Galion. This move brings clinical training, education, and workforce development into one centralized space designed to better support staff, students, and the community.

Avita’s Education Department serves more than 1,600 individuals each year, including nurses, physicians, students, EMS partners, and community members. Usage is expected to grow as access to training continues to expand.

“This new Education & Training Center allows us to elevate how we train and support our staff in one centralized location,” said Aimee McKenzie, Director of Education Department & Training Center. “Our goal is to provide our staff and community with high-quality education and training where skills are refined and patient outcomes are improved.”

The new space strengthens how care teams train and stay prepared, enhancing high-quality care for patients and families.

The Education & Training Center offers:

  • New employee clinical orientation
  • American Heart Association certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS and more)
  • Annual nursing competencies and continuing education
  • Training support for nursing students and allied health learners
  • Offsite classes for local schools, businesses, and organizations

Employees also have access to required certifications at no cost, supporting ongoing professional growth.

The new center includes a high-fidelity simulation lab, funded in part by the Avita Foundation. This allows teams to practice real-life scenarios in a controlled environment. The facility also serves as a continuing education provider, offering CE credits for many courses.

“This investment goes beyond staff development. It expands access to life-saving training in the community and reinforces a shared goal: improving health outcomes across the region,” added Jerome Morasko, President & CEO, Avita Health System. The relocation reflects Avita’s continued growth and commitment to innovation. It also strengthens partnerships with nursing programs and supports recruitment and retention by offering a high-quality training environment.
