Avita Recognizes Outstanding Employees with Monarch Award

BUCYRUS/GALION/ONTARIO – Avita Health System is proud to recognize our latest Monarch Award recipients. These team members go above and beyond to create a positive, compassionate experience for patients, families, and coworkers.

The Monarch Award recipients are Jeff Mostoller of Bucyrus Hospital, Gary Iceman of Galion Hospital, and Sarah Kanz of Ontario Hospital. These employees embody what the Monarch Award represents: Motivating, Optimistic, Nurturing, Adaptable, Respectful, Caring, and Helpful.

Jeff works in our Environmental Services department and is known for being a dependable and positive presence throughout Bucyrus Hospital. He takes pride in keeping patient rooms clean, safe, and ready, even during busy shifts. Jeff responds quickly to requests and makes sure each space is cared for with attention to detail. He consistently greets patients and staff with kindness while respecting privacy at all times. His work helps create an environment where patients feel comfortable and teams can provide the best possible care.

Gary works in Security and is a trusted presence in the Galion Hospital emergency department. He is known for staying aware of his surroundings and stepping in early to keep situations calm and under control. Gary supports staff during high stress moments, communicates clearly, works closely with clinical teams, and offers both physical support and reassurance when it is needed most. He shows kindness in everyday interactions, helping patients, visitors, and coworkers feel safe and supported.

Sarah is a phlebotomist and was nominated for her teamwork and compassion during a difficult situation with a young patient. She worked alongside her team to support a frightened child through a challenging blood draw. Sara remained calm, patient, and encouraging throughout the process. She helped ease fear and build trust, turning a stressful moment into a more positive experience for both the child and family. Her ability to stay steady and supportive reflects the level of care patients expect and deserve.

Employees may be nominated for the Monarch Award by patients, families, and colleagues by filling out a form online or at one of the three Avita hospital locations. The award recipients are anonymously chosen by a committee of Avita employees and awarded at celebrations attended by the honoree’s colleagues.
