With over a dozen of on-call specialists, we are able to provide high-quality emergency medical treatment, close to home. Our on-call physician specialties include: critical care, general surgery, general and interventional cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, vascular medicine, infectious disease, pulmonary medicine, orthopedics, nephrology, spinal neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pediatrics, urology, rheumatology, hospitalist medicine, oncology, hematology, and foot and ankle surgery.
Emergency Heart Attack Care
In August 2018, we advanced our cardiac emergency services. At Galion Hospital, we added an accredited level II cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab) and a 24/7 cardiac alert team to treat heart attacks. In a cardiac emergency, studies show that the quicker patients receive treatment, which may include balloon angioplasty and stent placement in the cath lab, the more likely they are to have a positive outcome. Fast treatment can save lives.
In the Ontario Hospital emergency department, we have a Forensic Program to provide medical screenings and forensic exams to individuals for sexual assault and abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking, and other criminal offenses. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in a private, dedicated patient room. Bucyrus and Galion Hospitals will be offering forensic services in the Spring of 2019.
*Interventional cardiology procedures can only be performed in the accredited cardiac cath lab at Galion Hospital
