The Bucyrus & Galion Auxiliaries are a true part of the Avita Health System team. They work to make things better for patients and hospital staff. They dedicate countless hours on event planning, fundraising, and non-clinical patient care. Bucyrus Hospital’s auxiliary was founded in May 1957 and has almost 200 volunteers who actively help around the hospital. Founded in 1954, Galion Hospital’s auxiliary also has 200 individuals volunteering their time and resources to support the hospital.

5 Reasons to Volunteer:

  • Improves your mood
  • Enriches sense of purpose
  • Good for mental health
  • Opportunities for social connections
  • Promotes healthy physical activity

Each auxiliary supports its respective hospital through volunteer service and community relations, as well as fundraising.

The open hands and caring hearts of our volunteers provide an invaluable service to patients, their families, and our staff. Volunteers may choose an area of service and schedule times best suited to their talents and lifestyle. Placement is based on skills and interests of the volunteer, as well as hospital needs.

Avita Health System volunteers give back to the community and make a difference by giving thousands of hours of service each year in many different ways:

Front Desk

Volunteers meet and greet all individuals entering the hospital, distribute visitor cards, and escort patients to various departments.

Surgery Desk

Volunteers direct patients to the surgery department and offer help and assistance to family and friends in the waiting area.

Gift Shop

Volunteers sell items to hospital visitors, patients, and staff. All proceeds from the gift shops are donated back to the hospital.

Mail Room

Volunteers sort and deliver mail to various departments within the hospitals.
