VOLUNTEERING AT AVITA
The Bucyrus & Galion Auxiliaries are a true part of the Avita Health System team. They work to make things better for patients and hospital staff. They dedicate countless hours on event planning, fundraising, and non-clinical patient care. Bucyrus Hospital’s auxiliary was founded in May 1957 and has almost 200 volunteers who actively help around the hospital. Founded in 1954, Galion Hospital’s auxiliary also has 200 individuals volunteering their time and resources to support the hospital.
5 Reasons to Volunteer:
- Improves your mood
- Enriches sense of purpose
- Good for mental health
- Opportunities for social connections
- Promotes healthy physical activity
Each auxiliary supports its respective hospital through volunteer service and community relations, as well as fundraising.
The open hands and caring hearts of our volunteers provide an invaluable service to patients, their families, and our staff. Volunteers may choose an area of service and schedule times best suited to their talents and lifestyle. Placement is based on skills and interests of the volunteer, as well as hospital needs.
Avita Health System volunteers give back to the community and make a difference by giving thousands of hours of service each year in many different ways.

Do you enjoy helping others? This could be the place for you. The hospital Gift Shop offers a variety of unique gifts for visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Profits derived from sales are donated to the hospital through the Auxiliary.

Do you enjoy meeting people? OPS aides assist the Registration staff in transporting patients from the Registration desk to the OPS waiting area. Wear comfortable shoes, you will do some walking.
