Avita’s Education Department is responsible for staff, patient and community education. We offer community educational events and coordinate support groups in cancer, stroke, and diabetes. We put a large focus on educating healthcare professionals within our health system as well. Providers, nurses, and other professionals benefit from required certification courses and mandatory course offerings.

A diabetes diagnosis can be tough and finding enthusiasm for eating healthier, getting regular activity, and monitoring your blood sugar can be difficult to maintain long term. It is easier when you have access to a network of people who know firsthand what it takes to manage the condition to keep you engaged and motivated.

Avita Health System’s Diabetes Support Group meets every month alternating between Bucyrus Hospital and Galion Hospital. Dates and locations are subject to change.

A diabetes diagnosis can be tough and finding information on how to eat healthier, get regular activity, monitoring appropriately, and preventing complications is important. Education on diabetes is the first step toward feeling better and living a longer, healthier life. Talk to your doctor about a referral for Diabetes Education.

Avita Health System Childbirthing Classes are held one Saturday a month in the lower level of Dr. Huggins’ office. It
is most beneficial to attend a class during your final trimester (after 28 weeks). Please bring your coach, a pillow
and wear comfortable clothing. Light snacks will be provided.

Class fee is $45.00, Avita patient’s fee will be billed to insurance, any uncovered amount will be added to office

Join Deanna Grube, Certified Lactation Consultant, at Galion Hospital, the first Friday of each month for a “Sprouts” question and answer session about breastfeeding.
