AUXILIARY & VOLUNTEERS
The Avita Auxiliaries are a true part of the Avita Health System team. They strive to make things better for patients and hospital staff. The Auxiliary dedicates countless hours on event planning, fundraising, and non-clinical patient care. Bucyrus Hospital’s Auxiliary was founded in May 1957 and has almost 200 volunteers who
actively help around the hospital. Founded in 1954, Galion Hospital’s Auxiliary also has around 200 individuals graciously dedicating their time to the hospital.
Avita Health System’s Auxiliaries are truly a part of each hospital team and subscribe to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Avita. The Auxiliaries support their respective hospital through volunteer service and community relations, as well as fundraising.
The open hands and caring hearts of our volunteers provide an invaluable service to patients, their families, and our staff. Volunteers may choose an area of service and/or times best suited to their talents and schedule. Placement is based on skills and interests of the volunteer, as well as hospital needs.
Avita Health System volunteers give back to the community and make a difference by giving thousands of hours of service each year in many different ways:
Volunteers meet and greet all individuals entering the hospital, distribute visitor cards, and escort patients to various departments in the hospital.
Volunteers direct patients to the Surgery Department and offer help and assistance to family and friends in the waiting area.
Volunteers sell items to hospital visitors, patients, and staff. All proceeds from the gift shops are donated back to Avita.
Volunteers sort and deliver mail to various departments within the hospitals.
